Callista Gingrich is slated to become the nation’s next ambassador to the Vatican, according to reports from CNN and The New York Times. President Donald Trump is expected to announce the nomination prior to a scheduled meeting with Pope Francis on May 24.
Gingrich performs weekly as part of a Catholic choir at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, a Roman Catholic church in the nation’s capital, according to a 2011 article in The Washington Post. Her academic background is in music – she is an alumnus of Luther College’s music program, entering the school with a music scholarship – apparently beginning piano lessons in third grade.
In a 2011 interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, Gingrich said she begins each day with prayer, and prays throughout the day: “I am grateful for the many blessings that God has bestowed upon me and the many opportunities he has given me.”
She penned a “patriotic children’s book” in 2011 entitled, “Sweet Land of Liberty,” presumably to compete with what she described as “politically correct history” pushed by left-wing and Democrat-aligned educational bureaucrats.
