Tom Brady On Anthem Protests

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady recently spoke to Stephen Colbert regarding how the anthem protests affected atmosphere in the locker room.

Brady said the protests, “brought up a lot of healthy discussion in the locker room.” It helped him gain a better understanding for his teammates.

“On our team, there wasn’t too much [protesting], but I thought it brought up a lot of healthy discussion in the locker room,” Brady said to Stephen Colbert. “I think the great thing about sports is that it brings a lot of guys together — a lot of guys from all over the country, from all different backgrounds and cultures. I have such a healthy respect for the guys that I play with. It’s great to hear their stories, too.”

If there story is how they hate America, which is what they are saying when they do not respect our flag, then why not suggest they move to some other country where they may be treated better? Why cash in, on the one hand, while trashing the great country that allowed you to earn that kind of money, on the other?

Weak! Covered his ars! I would love to sit down, with one of these teams, and let them know what I went through, as a police officer. How I DID NOT profile! And how if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime!

Tom Brady lives in a glass house with his ultra liberal wife, who prevented him from going to the WH last year with his team after their SB win! Have boycotted him ever since! Karma got him this year when they lost!! Just my humble opinion!

All I can say to Tom Brady is our military has brought a lot of guys and girls together also and they weren’t playing a game. They sacrificed their lives and limbs so you ingrates can play a game for millions of dollars and this is how you show your appreciation and respect for them. Your all a bunch of weak minded followers that have no clue as to what your protesting, it took one scumbag to start it and the rest of you followed like little kids, even a veteran who served our country and stood by himself to honor his fellow veterans and our National Anthem until he more than likely was threatened not to do it again, he to had no guts to stand up for what was right. As a former veteran I don’t think 90% of you NFL protesters would have the balls to switch uniforms with our military personal because your all gutless. If you can’t respect Our Country get the hell out!! As far as myself and my fellow veterans are concerned the the “NFL IS DEAD TO US”

      SHUT UP RAMBO!

      • Ronald Ducoli

That is a typical left wing answer to anything you don’t agree with. It’s you that should shut the f…..ck up if you have nothing concrete to add to the discussion.

It may be great to hear their stories, but we didn’t hear a thing. So what is the point of this story ? We don’t watch Steve Colbert in our house, regardless of who may be his guests. But this is as much of a non-story as I can even imagine. Chuck

Sorry Tom; sad, you copped out! You “were” my No 1 guy, being I am a “M” graduate. I won’t watch and support those who oppose our great country, flag and anthem. I am also an “M” man 2 times.

Kudos to Tom Brady for sticking by his teammates and acknowledging their right to free speech. The protesting for inequality could have been done in a different light so as not to offend some people but as a Veteran I respect their right to the first amendment just as much as gun enthusiasts have a right to protect theirs under the second amendment. I too am a gun owner (several assault weapons as well) but I see no reason for both sides not to be able to work it out in a reasonable and mature manner. I know, some of you here will attack me as a troll and a liberal but go for it. This is, by the way, a free forum for all opinions and not just yours.

Kneeling is giving much greater respect to the symbol of the nation, such as the flag, than standing. Just observe the stances to revere God or Great Spirits in religious denominations, which attest to kneeling as the higher form of reverence than standing, sinking or bowing head and torso, etc. The standard standing, hand over the high left area of the torso and singing along have been classed as a form of hypocrisy by the existence of current racism and slavery and exploitation of their labor for low pay at the poverty level in the past and how the current strength of the US derived from such exploitation. The same can be said about the horrendous and annihilative treatments toward the indigenous populations.

  • YOLADANE

Very weak Tom Brady. A NOTHING STATEMENT. NO NO DON’T STAND UP FOR OUR MILITARY OUR POLICE OR OUR FLAG. God forbid you OFFEND anybody. I just lost a lot of respect for you TOM and you have been my favorite player for many years. Don’t forget, you would not have a GREAT JOB MAKING MILLIONS if it wasn’t for THIS COUNTRY AND THE PEOPLE WHO DIED FOR IT. Oh, but you must not offend your team mates. They really have something to BITCH ABOUT RIGHT ?? PATHETIC.

SHUT UP ALREADY! YOU’VE ALL HAD IT EXPLAINED TO YOU. THE VETERANS DO NOT HOLD THE PEACEFUL PROTEST AGAINST THE PLAYERS. THEN PLAYERS ARE NOT DISRESPECTING THE FLAG OR THE ANTHEM OR THE VETS. THEY ARE PROTESTING AGAINST THE SHOOT AS SOON AS YOU CAN COPS OUT THERE. AND THEY ARE OUT THERE. KEEPYOURPOWER, IT’S GREAT THAT YOU DID IT THE RIGHT WAY. BUT I KNOW A LOT OF COPS. I HAVE THEM IN MY DISTANT FAMILY. AND EVERYONE OF THEM HAS ADMITTED TO LOOKING THE OTHER WAY WHEN A FELLOW OFFICER IS BREAKING THE LAW OR THE RULES. I DON’T KNOW YOU, BUT I’M SURE YOU ARE NOT THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE. OVER THE LAST 4 YEARS. WAY TOO MANY YOUNG MEN WERE GUNNED DOWN BY THEIR LOCAL POLICE OFFICERS WHEN THEY HAD NO WEAPON. I DON’T CARE IF THE GUY TAKES OFF RUNNING. KILLING HIM IS UNNECESSARY. THE GUY THAT WAS TALKING ABOUT KILLING HIMSELF, I THINK IN GEORGIA. HE WAS A PARAPLEGIC. THE COPS ARE CALLED OUT TO PREVENT HIM FROM COMMITTING SUICIDE. WELL THEY WANT HIS HANDS UP, HE HAS THEM ON THE WHEELS IN ORDER TO STEER. HE’S NO THREAT, BUT JUST AS SOON AS ONE SHOT THEY ALL DID. WHY NOT JUST BACK OFF? WHERES HE GONNA GO. THE PROTEST IS LEGIT AND IT’S ONLY GOT WINGS BECAUSE EVERYBODY STARTED BASHING A PEACEFUL PROTEST. THE NFL ISN’T FORCING THEM TO STOP PROTESTING BECAUSE THAT WOULD VIOLATE THEIR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS. AND THAT WOULD HAVE THE VETERANS IN A BAD MOOD.

Bull shit protesting on an intertainment channel when players clearly violated the NFL rules and aren’t persecuted by a corrupt Commisioner is a violation to the fans that tune to watch Sports without political opinions.
Your platform is hodwash and most Americans will not put up with it any longer. It’s time for a new football league of patriotic players. Go do your protesting on the streets- your sick opinions are not envited into my living room.

    • Jon

Steeltown, your no better than the asshole’s in the national felony league. I take it your a weak minded follower like the rest of today’s society a loser.

  • jim jones

Keep your bullshit off of the playing field, we pay to watch football, not your personal opinions.
