In the tradition of President Obama who gave us the brilliant plan to defeat ISIS with, “We defeat them in part by saying, ‘You are not strong. You are weak” Irish rockstar Bono of U2 has come up with an even more comprehensive plan to overcome the terror organization that is beheading thousands and raping their way across Iraq and Syria.
Speaking before a Senate subcommittee recently, Bono told lawmakers,
“I think comedy should be deployed. Because if you look at National Socialism and Daesh and ISIL – this is the same thing, we’ve seen this before… Very vain, they’ve got all the signs up, really, it’s show business.
The first people that Hitler threw out of Germany were the Dadaists and the Surrealists. You speak violence, you speak their language.
You laugh at them when they’re goose-stepping down the street and it takes away their power.
So, I’m suggesting the Senate send in Amy Schumer and Chris Rock, and Sacha Baron Cohen. Thank you.”
The saddest part, was that rather than being laughed out of the building, Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen told him that, “Actually, that’s not the first time I’ve heard experts on how to counter violent extremism talk about that. And it is one of the things that I know we’re looking at.”
What do you think when you hear people say things like, ‘we should fight the terrorists with laughter’? Do they honestly believe that the religious extremists – after watching a comedy show with Amy Schumer talking about the latest men she’s slept with – the terrorists will stop hating, throw down their weapons and set all the sex slaves free?
